Pa. Gov. Sued By Union Over Health Center Closures

Law360, Philadelphia (April 2, 2013, 2:05 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania public employees union and a group of lawmakers filed a lawsuit Monday challenging the legality of Gov. Tom Corbett’s plan to close 26 community health centers in the state.

The suit, which was filed in Commonwealth Court on behalf of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania and a group of Democratic state legislators, said Corbett’s plan to shutter 26 of 60 centers violated laws passed by the General Assembly dictating minimum standards for public health funding and services provided by the Department of Health.
