RIM Faces Patent Suit Over Wireless Devices

Law360, New York (December 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Months after winning $12 million in a patent case over text-messaging technology, a small wireless communications company has targeted BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. in a suit over devices for managing e-mail accounts.

Maryland-based TeleCommunication Systems Inc. said Thursday it sued the Ontario-based company in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, claiming that RIM’s products that allow wireless users to access multiple e-mail accounts infringe one of TCS’s patents.
