Fla. Senate Passes Bill Targeting Illegal Slot Machines

Law360, Miami (April 4, 2013, 7:12 PM EDT) -- The Florida Senate passed a bill Thursday intended to clarify a state law banning gray-market slot machines, despite concerns from some members that the measure casts too wide a net and will ensnare legitimate businesses.

The chamber's 36-4 vote in favor of H.B. 155, put forth by Sen. John Thrasher, R-Jacksonville, as an identical substitute for his S.B. 1030, comes two weeks after the House's 108-7 approval of the bill. It was immediately certified and sent to Gov. Rick Scott.
