Recliner-Mechanism Maker Hits Rival With ITC Patent Claims

Law360, New York (April 4, 2013, 7:29 PM EDT) -- Linear actuator maker DewertOkin GmbH slapped China-based Changzhou Kaidi Electrical Co. Ltd. and its U.S. sales arm with a U.S. International Trade Commission complaint Wednesday, accusing them of selling or importing patent-infringing actuators, which allow for powered adjustments in reclining chairs.

Dewert Okin and licensee Okin America Inc. asked the ITC to launch an investigation under section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 into whether Changzhou Kaidi and Michigan-based Kaidi had unlawfully imported or sold linear actuators that infringe a Dewert Okin patent.
