California Sues Over EPA Clean Car Ruling

Law360, New York (January 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a widely expected move, the state of California and five environmental groups challenged the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's denial of the state's law limiting emissions in new automobiles in separate legal attacks filed Wednesday.

The lawsuits, filed separately in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, take aim at the agency's Dec. 19 decision that denied California's request for a waiver under the federal Clean Air Act for tougher emission limits.
