Stanford Sues Roche Over HIV Monitoring Technology

Law360, New York (October 20, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Stanford University has filed a suit against Roche Molecular Diagnostics alleging willful infringement of a patent covering HIV monitoring technology, a scientific process that has been heavily litigated in recent months.

The complaint alleges that Roche intentionally infringed two patents granted to Stanford scientists in 1999. The patents are for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for the monitoring of the HIV virus as it circulates in the body.
