Shire Sues Neos To Block Adderall XR Competitor

Law360, New York (April 12, 2013, 3:31 PM EDT) -- Irish biopharmaceutical giant Shire PLC lodged its latest bid Thursday to maintain patent protection over the blockbuster attention deficit hyperactivity disorder treatment Adderall XR, suing Neos Therapeutics Inc. in Texas federal court for applying to produce a competing drug.

Shire accused Neos of infringing its intellectual property for Adderall by filing a new drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that specifically asserted that two of the patents behind Adderall were invalid.
