EPA Terminates Mich. Superfund Talks With Dow

Law360, New York (January 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ended its three-month-old negotiations with Dow Chemical over a plan to clean up dioxin contamination in Michigan’s Tittabawassee River on Friday, a few days before the talks' formal deadline.

The EPA pointed to Dow's alleged unwillingness to strike a fair deal as its reason for ending the negotiations, while Dow expressed surprise at the agency's abruptness.
