Law360, New York (January 04, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Battelle Memorial Institute has been hit with a proposed $288,750 civil penalty for allegedly violating federal nuclear safety requirements at a Richland, Wash. facility in 2006 and 2007.
The U.S. Department of Energy announced Thursday that it has issued a preliminary notice of violation to Battelle under the authority of the Price-Anderson Amendments Act of 1988. The company has 30 days to respond, and to object to the notice if it wishes.
