Philly Casino To Settle Feds' River Pollution Claims

Law360, New York (April 15, 2013, 2:56 PM EDT) -- Philadelphia's SugarHouse Casino will pay the U.S. government $650,000 to settle allegations that it dumped unauthorized material into the Delaware River in violation of the Clean Water Act and Rivers and Harbors Act, federal prosecutors said Monday.

Under a settlement agreement, SugarHouse HSP Gaming LP will shell out $625,000 to a Philadelphia-area conservancy and will pay the remaining $25,000 to the federal government as a penalty for allegedly discharging the material in violation of three cease and desist letters SugarHouse received from the U.S. Army Corps...
