Houston To File $23M Suit Against BP Over Lost Tax Revenue

Law360, Houston (April 17, 2013, 10:49 PM EDT) -- Leadership in the city of Houston voted Wednesday to move forward with a $23 million lawsuit against BP PLC over tax losses the city sustained as a result of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

In a 10–5 vote, the Houston City Council agreed to retain Jan Woodward Fox PLC, Reich & Birnstock LLP and Norman Jolly PC on a contingency fee basis to pursue lost sales and hotel occupancy taxes caused by a six-month offshore drilling moratorium imposed by the federal government immediately after the accident....
