2nd Circ. Boots Bin Laden's Relatives, Firm From 9/11 MDL

Law360, New York (April 16, 2013, 6:11 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Tuesday released dozens of charities, banks, businesses and individuals from multidistrict litigation over the 9/11 attacks, including Osama bin Laden's family members and the massive construction company founded by his father.

Of the 76 defendants tossed on various grounds from the MDL brought by the families and estates of 9/11 victims, a three-judge panel affirmed the dismissal of all but 12, remanding for jurisdictional discovery a dozen “charitable organization” managers alleged to have provided direct funding to al-Qaida.
