Hotel Workers Win Class Status In Employment Suit

Law360, New York (January 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has certified a conditional class of workers in a wage-and-hour suit alleging that a Missouri hotel forced nonunion employees to take unpaid meal breaks and fired a worker who complained about the policy.

In certifying the suit as a collective action, U.S. District Judge E. Webber Jr. ruled the plaintiffs had met their burden of aligning themselves with a putative class of similarly victimized workers at Gateway's Millennium Hotel in St. Louis.
