Penguin Becomes Last Publisher To Settle EU E-Books Probe

Law360, New York (April 19, 2013, 2:49 PM EDT) -- Pearson PLC's Penguin has offered to change its pricing model for electronic books to resolve the European Union's investigation into suspicions the publisher colluded with rivals and Apple Inc. to fix prices, EU antitrust authorities said Friday.

With the deal, which is subject to a market test in Europe, Penguin becomes the last of five major publishing houses to settle the European Commission's investigation into allegations that the publisher conspired to fix e-book prices.
