Apple Says Oracle Must Cover Ethernet Patent Fight

Law360, Los Angeles (April 19, 2013, 4:25 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. sued Oracle America Inc. on Friday in California federal court, claiming Oracle owes it coverage for any damages arising from claims that Apple infringed four patents held by U.S. Ethernet Innovations LLC.

Texas-based USEI, the owner of Ethernet technology developed and sold by 3Com Corp., sued several large companies including Apple, Dell Products LP, Gateway Inc. and Sony Corp. of America in October 2009, alleging they infringed U.S. Patent Numbers 5,299,313, 5,307,459, 5,434,872  5,732,094.
