Florida To Sue BP On Deepwater Horizon Anniversary

Law360, New York (April 19, 2013, 6:30 PM EDT) -- Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday said she is going to file a lawsuit against BP PLC and Halliburton Co. to recover lost tax revenue and other economic losses the state sustained in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

The lawsuit will be filed on April 20, which is the three-year anniversary of the spill, and will be filed in Florida federal court under the Oil Pollution Act. The state will also seek damages under maritime law and Florida common law, the attorney general's...
