EU Committee Votes For US Free Trade Talks By June

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 11:51 AM EDT) -- European lawmakers gave the preliminary green light Thursday for talks on a comprehensive trade and investment deal with the U.S., putting negotiations on schedule to start in June.

The members of the European Parliament's International Trade Committee voted 23 to 5 to authorize the European Commission to start hashing out the details of the planned Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, which would slash tariffs on the nearly $1 trillion in annual trade between the two partners.
