FTC Issues Long-Awaited Guidance On Children's Web Privacy

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 3:27 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Thursday issued long-awaited guidance on its updated online privacy rule for children, which it said will go into force in July despite pleas by online industry groups for a six-month compliance extension.

In an extensive frequently asked questions document, the FTC lays out guidance for businesses and parents on new amendments to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which the agency expanded in December to include previously unregulated technologies like mobile apps and social media sites.
