Fla. Sues Hitachi For Damages Over Disc Drive Cartel

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 5:44 PM EDT) -- Florida has sued Hitachi-LG Data Storage Inc. for fixing the price of optical disc drives in a bid to recover damages for the state and restitution for its consumers, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Thursday.

Hitachi-LG has already paid out $21.1 million and pled guilty to federal bid-rigging and price-fixing charges from the U.S. Department of Justice, and Florida's complaint joins a slew of private cases filed alongside the federal case accusing the Korean company of illegally working with its rivals to fix prices.
