Tesoro Must Pay Water Bills Before Pumping For Refinery

Law360, Washington (April 26, 2013, 3:06 PM EDT) -- A California state judge barred Tesoro Corp. from pumping groundwater for use at a local refinery until it pays more than $900,000 in back fees to the Water Replenishment District of Southern California, the regional water regulator announced Thursday.

Tesoro stopped paying its monthly replenishment assessment fees in May 2012, but continued pumping groundwater from the West Coast Groundwater Basin, the injunction noted.
