SUNY Nixes Plan To Close Hospital After City Council Vote

Law360, New York (April 26, 2013, 6:17 PM ET) -- A day after the New York City Council voted unanimously to approve a plan to save Long Island College Hospital from closure, owner SUNY Downstate Medical Center on Friday withdrew its controversial plan to shutter the hospital, noting that its dire financial condition remains unchanged.

SUNY withdrew its proposed closure plan for LICH from the New York State Department of Health, saying it would continue to look for a new health provider to take over the ailing hospital, it said in a statement.
