Sprint Wins Wiggle Room For $25B Dish Merger Talks

Law360, New York (April 29, 2013, 4:36 PM EDT) -- SoftBank Corp. has given Sprint Nextel Corp. a waiver allowing it to get more information about Dish Network Corp.'s $25 billion topping offer, Sprint said Monday.

The waiver allows Sprint to sign a confidentiality agreement with Dish to clarify Dish's proposal. But it doesn't let the company give Dish any nonpublic information or start formal negotiations, keeping Sprint's newly formed special committee on a tight leash as it tries to balance its duty to stockholders and its standing merger agreement with the Japanese telecom giant....
