Visa Settles Suit Over No-Contact Credit Card Patent

Law360, New York (January 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A California-based patent-holding firm has resolved its patent infringement case against Visa International Service Association, its U.S. subsidiary and a group of banks over security technology for wireless credit card transactions.

A federal judge dismissed PrivaSys Inc.’s suit with prejudice on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California after learning that PrivaSys entered an agreement to settle claims against Visa International, Visa USA, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo & Co. and their affiliate banks.
