Yukos Sued By U.S. Investors Over Suspected Nationalization

Law360, New York (October 27, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Investors in scandal-ridden Yukos Oil Company are taking the offensive against the Russian Federation, accusing the country and its leaders of trying to renationalize the firm without compensation.

Russia, along with its energy minister and natural gas giant Gazprom, is accused of harassing Yukos executives until they resigned and of depriving them of economic gain through illegal tax levies. The suit was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington D.C.
