EU Closes Antitrust Probe Of French Water Utilities

Law360, New York (April 30, 2013, 1:07 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust regulator confirmed Tuesday it has ended an investigation into concerns that Suez Environnement Co. SA, Veolia Environnement SA and Saur SA worked together to harm competition in the market for water and wastewater services in France.

The European Commission issued a short notice on its website Tuesday, explaining that, on April 23, it had "decided to close the antitrust proceedings" after an investigation failed to turn up evidence that participants in the French water and wastewater markets had violated EU competition rules....
