Jury Clears Electrolux In Insurer's Dryer Defect Suit

Law360, New York (April 30, 2013, 4:34 PM ET) -- A New Jersey federal jury on Monday found New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group failed to prove an Electrolux Home Products Inc. clothes dryer faulted for a home fire was defectively designed and that the company didn't provide consumers adequate instructions and warnings.

The jury decision in favor of Electrolux cleared the company of allegations by New Jersey Manufacturers that a December 2008 fire at the home of client Kecia Ellis was found to be caused by a Frigidaire-brand clothes dryer. The insurer was seeking about $205,000...
