Experts Eye EU As Guide On Trademark Protection Limits

Law360, Dallas (May 6, 2013, 8:30 PM EDT) -- The trademark directive proposed by the European Union in March could help calm the “roller coaster” of recent EU Court of Justice rulings expanding trademark protection under the function theory, experts at the International Trademark Association's annual meeting said Monday.

The EU proposed an update March 27 intended to make trademark registration more accessible and efficient, and to help EU rules coexist with national trademark systems.
