Judge Lets $180M Settlement Flow In Flood Case

Law360, New York (January 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Missouri judge on Wednesday signed off on Ameren Corp.'s $180 million settlement agreement over the disastrous 2005 collapse of the Taum Sauk reservoir in the Missouri Ozarks.

Though the settlement was reached in November, it needed the approval of Reynolds County Circuit Court Judge William Seay.

The deal resolves the lawsuit brought by Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon and wraps up talks between St. Louis-based Ameren and three state agencies.

Ameren's president and CEO, Tom Voss, applauded the resolution of the matter.
