Recliner Part Maker's Patent Claims Spur ITC Probe

Law360, New York (May 1, 2013, 1:39 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Tuesday that it will investigate DewertOkin GmbH's allegations that a China-based competitor and its U.S. sales arm were importing patent-infringing linear actuators used to power footrests in reclining chairs.

The commission voted to institute a probe under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 into whether Changzhou Kaidi Electrical Co. Ltd. and Michigan-based Kaidi had unlawfully imported or sold linear actuators that infringe DewertOkin's U.S. Patent Number 5,927,144.
