By Karlee Weinmann (May 1, 2013, 1:22 PM EDT) -- Yahoo Inc. has scrapped its plans to make a $225 million bid for a controlling stake in video website Dailymotion after French authorities balked at the sale, sources confirmed to Fox Business on Wednesday. The site is considered one of France's premier online success stories, and the country was hesitant to give up majority ownership. Dailymotion is owned by France Telecom SA, a broadband provider part-owned by the French government. Officials have tried to compromise, proposing that Yahoo swallow up a 50 percent share of Dailymotion — among the world's largest video sites, a crown jewel among startups — but the erstwhile search engine was not interested in less than majority ownership....
