Takeda Ditches $6M Award Linking Diabetes Drug To Cancer

Law360, Los Angeles (May 1, 2013, 8:48 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Wednesday threw out a $6.5 million jury award against Japan's Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. in the first product liability trial over its diabetes drug Actos, finding expert testimony that the drug caused the terminal bladder cancer of a 79-year-old man was "inherently unreliable."
