New UK Antitrust Agency's Chief Pledges Tough Enforcement

Law360, New York (May 3, 2013, 4:06 PM EDT) -- The incoming chief executive of the U.K.'s new competition watchdog has vowed to focus on getting results in criminal prosecution and civil antitrust enforcement while making sure the agency clears mergers in a timely fashion, according to a speech released Friday.

The Competition and Markets Authority, which will replace the U.K.'s two existing antitrust enforcers in 2014, will be a "strong outcomes-driven enforcement" agency, CEO-Designate Alex Chisholm told a London audience April 24.
