Cisco, Sprint, BT Among Cos. Sued Over Router Patent

Law360, New York (May 6, 2013, 5:59 PM EDT) -- Cisco Systems Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co. and U.K.-based BT Group PLC were among more than a dozen businesses accused in lawsuits filed Friday in Delaware of offering routers, Ethernet switches, services and other products that infringe a Virginia-based company's patent.

Relay IP Inc. filed as many as 17 patent infringement lawsuits alleging infringement of U.S. Patent Number 5,331,637. The patent is related to Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode standards for multicast routing. The lawsuits seek unspecified monetary damages for the alleged infringement and other remedies....
