Tech Cos. Launch Project To Share Green Patents

Law360, New York (January 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A slew of leading technology firms announced Monday that they have agreed to open a portfolio of their patents covering environmentally friendly technologies to the public, a development likely to spur innovation in the young and lucrative market for green technologies.

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development, an international group of over 200 companies dedicated to sustainable business, said in a press release that IBM Corp., Sony Corp., Pitney Bowes Inc. and Nokia Corp. have joined to create the portfolio, known as the Eco-Patent Commons....
