Quest Settles Claims It Ruled Out Applicants With Rap Sheets

Law360, New York (May 9, 2013, 3:52 PM EDT) -- New York's top prosecutor has settled a beef with Quest Diagnostics Inc., the $10 billion provider of health-related testing, over allegations that it automatically disqualified job applicants based on prior arrests or convictions, the attorney general's office said Thursday.

New Jersey-based Quest, which has about 200 locations in New York and employs approximately 42,000 employees in total, agreed to pay a $70,000 penalty and to follow laws prohibiting automatic job disqualification based solely on criminal history, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said.
