Bill Would Speed Up Natural Gas Pipeline Approvals

Law360, New York (May 9, 2013, 6:16 PM EDT) -- U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., introduced a bill Thursday that would fast-track the federal permitting of natural gas pipeline projects, including automatically issuing a permit if the government doesn't act on its application within the accelerated timeframe.

Under Pompeo's Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would have a year to approve or deny a certificate of public convenience and necessity for a proposed natural gas pipeline project after providing public notice of the application.
