Lehman Mulls Selling Piece Of $14B Claims Against Brokerage

Law360, New York (May 10, 2013, 5:34 PM ET) -- Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. said Friday that it is considering selling some of the $14 billion in bankruptcy claims it has against its brokerage affiliate Lehman Brothers Inc., and has hired New York-based global investment banking adviser Lazard Ltd. to guide it in the process.

LBHI has $14 billion in unsecured claims against LBI, and $2.3 billion in customer claims against LBI after a settlement agreement between the two affiliates was approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James M. Peck in New York in April.
