Lawyers Boost Dems As Presidential Election Heats Up

Law360, New York (January 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Spurred by strong candidates and a perception that the Bush administration has overstepped the rule of law, attorneys have given record contributions to Democratic presidential candidates in this election at a rate of nearly 4-to-1 compared to Republicans.

Lawyers contributed $47.8 million to presidential candidates in 2007, with 77% of the funds going to Democrats, according to an analysis of campaign finance reports compiled by nonpartisan research group the Center for Responsive Politics.
