EU Privacy Reform Costs Uncertain, UK Watchdog Says

Law360, New York (May 14, 2013, 4:10 PM EDT) -- The United Kingdom's data protection regulator released an independent study on Tuesday revealing that the vast majority of businesses in the country are unable to estimate compliance costs under proposed European Union data reforms.

The report, which was commissioned by the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office, found that 87 percent of companies can't figure out how much they will need to spend in order to implement the new standards, and that 40 percent don't fully understand any of the 10 main provisions in the proposal.
