Router Makers Blast Innovatio Over Nonessential Claims

Law360, New York (May 14, 2013, 5:48 PM EDT) -- Cisco Systems Inc., Motorola Solutions Inc. and other router makers filed a brief Friday disputing Innovatio IP Ventures' claim that some of its wireless patents are not standards-essential and blasting the nonpracticing entity for trying to “shirk” its obligation to reasonable and nondiscriminatory licensing.

The companies were responding to Innovatio's filing last month that said some of its patents for wireless routers weren't essential to technology standards established by industry groups and thus not bound to offer reasonable and nondiscriminatory royalty rates.
