Deals Rumor Mill: OMERS, GE, Sony

By Karlee Weinmann (May 14, 2013, 5:21 PM EDT) -- Canada's Borealis Infrastructure Management Inc., the Kuwait Investment Authority and U.K. pension fund Universities Superannuation Scheme have joined up with the hope of launching an $8.1 billion buyout bid at water company Severn Trent PLC, Private Equity News reported Tuesday. Borealis — the infrastructure branch of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System — and the Kuwaiti group have spearheaded the effort to swallow up U.K.-headquartered Severn Trent, a central supplier of water to people throughout England and into Wales. The company confirmed it had been approached by investors, but did not say how much the firms had offered....
