Argentina Files WTO Complaint Over EU Biodiesel Rules

Law360, New York (May 15, 2013, 5:57 PM EDT) -- Argentina filed a formal complaint against the European Union with the World Trade Organization on Wednesday, challenging European rules for the importation and marketing of biodiesel.

The complaint concerns EU measures that are designed to promote renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as European subsidies for the bloc's domestic biodiesel industry, the WTO said.

The South American country says the EU rules violate a number of WTO regulations on international trade, among them restrictions on trade discrimination, subsidies and technical barriers to trade....
