Pa. Rep. Seeks To Impose Fiscal Discipline On Judiciary

Law360, New York (May 15, 2013, 4:20 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania lawmaker said Tuesday he intends to introduce a joint resolution to amend the state constitution to provide dedicated funding for the state judiciary in response to the courts' growing fiscal and operational challenges.

Rep. Thomas Caltagirone, D-Berks County, said in a statement that the proposed constitutional amendment will give the Pennsylvania Supreme Court discretion in spending but demands operational efficiencies by limiting any surplus to no more than 3 percent of the total operating budget of the judiciary.
