Contractors Ask DC Circ. To Lift Political Donation Ban

Law360, Washington (May 16, 2013, 1:33 PM EDT) -- Three individual federal contractors pushed a D.C. Circuit panel Thursday to nix a statute preventing them from donating to political candidates and parties, saying the Federal Election Commission's anti-corruption rule is antiquated and poorly executed.

While the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1972 prevents individuals working directly for the government under contracts from making political contributions, the three contractors claim the ban hasn't been imposed on the boards and individuals working for large corporate government contractors and asked the panel to overturn the lower court's summary...
