Medical Supplier BestMed Dodges $3.5M Verdict In IP Row

Law360, New York (May 16, 2013, 6:19 PM EDT) -- Colorado-based medical equipment firm BestMed LLC convinced a New York federal judge to reverse a $3.5 million verdict for its adversary, Israel-based thermometer maker Medisim Ltd., over a thermometer patent that she found invalid Wednesday. 

U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin granted BestMed’s motion for judgment as a matter of law, reversing a jury’s $1.2 million patent infringement verdict reached after an 11-day trial, as well as its $2.3 million award on Medisim’s unjust enrichment claims, according to the order.
