The negotiations are the latest in a string of rumored deal plays for the erstwhile Web giant, which has struggled to stoke momentum under the leadership of its relatively new CEO, Marissa Mayer, who has been prodded by investors and industry insiders to reshape the company. If it swallows up New York-based Tumblr, Yahoo would snag a new avenue for advertising, plus a social-networking site that is popular among the younger set — a demographic outside the Silicon Valley company's main user base....
