High Court To Review SOX's Protection Of Private Contractors

Law360, New York (May 20, 2013, 12:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court said Monday that it would clarify whether private contractors of public companies are protected by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act’s whistleblower protections, granting writ to a pair of retaliation suits against privately owned Fidelity Investments.

The high court agreed to decide whether the First Circuit erred in a February 2012 decision finding that employees in the Fidelity suits were not entitled to whistleblower protections because Fidelity was a privately owned company not liable for retaliation under the law.
