Brazilian Antitrust Watchdog Clears Merger Case Backlog

Law360, New York (May 20, 2013, 11:18 PM EDT) -- Brazil's antitrust watchdog proposed Friday blocking Armco Staco SA from buying Mangels Industrial SA's metallic barriers unit, clearing the final case from the agency's backlog of mergers filed almost a year ago as the country overhauled its merger regime.

The general superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, urged the agency's tribunal to block Armco's acquisition of the former Mangels unit that produces galvanized metal barriers used on roadways to protect vehicles.
