Belkin Settles Out Of Slingbox ITC Patent Probe

Law360, New York (May 21, 2013, 5:27 PM ET) -- Sling Media Inc., which makes TV streaming device Slingbox, has agreed to drop accusations that Belkin International Inc. imported products that infringed a patented technology called placeshifting, according to a settlement filed Monday with the U.S. International Trade Commission.

Sling Media asked the trade body to dismiss Belkin from its investigation into whether rival companies were infringing six patents for the proprietary technology. Also known as spaceshifting, the technology allows a user to remotely access movies and songs over the Internet.
