Temple Can’t Fight Arbitrator On Worker Rehiring, Union Says

Law360, Philadelphia (May 22, 2013, 5:47 PM EDT) -- A labor union representing a Temple University Hospital employee who was fired for sexual harassment told a Pennsylvania state judge Tuesday that the court had to honor an arbitration award reinstating the worker.

The National Union of Hospital and Healthcare Employees said Temple could not challenge an arbitrator’s decision reinstating patient interviewer Lisa Pena after her termination over complaints of sexual harassment because its collective bargaining agreement bound the hospital to honor arbitration awards.
